Intelligent® Mail Barcode
|
The United States Postal Service is moving toward the implementation of the Intelligent Mail® Barcode. All business manifest mailers will be required to comply with this new postal regulation barcode by January 2009. What does this requirement mean for your business and what are the advantages?
Implementation of the Intelligent Mail® barcode (IMB) expands your ability to track individual pieces and provides greater visibility in the mailstream while increasing accuracy and efficiency.
The Intelligent Mail® barcode has the advantage of allowing you to request value added services like tracking, with OneCode Confirm and address correction, with OneCode ACS all in one barcode. According to Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer John E. Potter, “Intelligent Mail is like having a GPS system for mail”, and “Intelligent Mail is the smart way for customers to do business,” Reference; http://www.usps.com/communications/news/press/2007/pr07_002.htm).
The IMB is comprised of 65 bars representing 31 digits of mail piece information. The IMB is a new barcode that contains bars of four different heights, also known as a 4-State Barcode. Maintaining compliance with these new regulations will be challenging for many mailers, but SynTel will make the transition to the new IMB a smooth one.
If you are ready to move your mailstream into the forefront of mail processing technology, contact one of SynTel’s Account Managers at 1-800-898-2540 ext 5336 or you can sign up for an IMB WEBINAR. | |
